I believe that DISTRACTION is the single biggest problem business owners face. Especially when it comes to marketing.
I did it in ALL CAPS so you could scan and keep moving. You’re welcome 🙂
These days, you’re hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn’t consider themselves too busy.
You can argue about what they’re busy with, but the reality is that our modern lifestyle is very information and activity-driven.Â
So much so that we’re having to reteach ourselves how to breathe and take time to clear our heads and think (meditate).
I’m not here to throw stones. I struggle with this too.
I had to put away from phone and hide from someone who turned on the TV nearby just to write this.
But as a marketing professional, I have to continually work on eliminating distractions as much as possible and allow time for ideas to percolate.
And If I really need to do some creative work, I’ll pour a vodka and see what happens.
If you own a business, and your marketing isn’t creating the results you want, I’d encourage you to look in the mirror.
How much time are you REALLY spending focused with deep attention on what’s happening in that part of your business? Are you distracted by your phone, Facebook, or a thousand other things you’re trying to deal with?
Or are you frustrated because you’re paying someone else that’s supposed to be handling this for you without much supervision?Â
Either way, I’ve found the clients who pay the closest attention to their marketing are usually happy with the results. I think it’s because they’re actually paying attention.
